Overview
Kenya, like most developing countries, is in need of increased IT knowledge and experience commencing at a school level in order to satisfy increasing demands for IT skills in the workplace.  This is difficult to achieve in many areas due to lack of mains power and hardware.  These two problems can be overcome, thanks to recent developments in IT technology.  It is now possible to create energy efficient computer labs and run them on free software created for exactly this purpose.

Here at Stonehouse we have put together a networked computer suite specifically designed for educational use.  The extremely energy efficient computers are entirely powered by solar.  They have no moving parts and are silent in operation.  These are the only fit for purpose computers designed specifically for use in rural Africa.
